Chia seeds – Perfect Food for Hormones

by Angie

Chia is a very small seed native to Southern America and grows mostly around the equator. Chia has been cultivated for centuries by people who live there, by Aztecs and pre- Columbian cultures.

Chia is a superfood, and it has incredible nutritional power. It is packed with omega -3’ (8 times more than salmon) and is the richest omegas food on the planet. It is high in protein. Has six times more calcium than milk, 15 times more magnesium than broccoli, more potassium than bananas, three times more iron than spinach, four times more selenium than flax seed. Chia is loaded with antioxidants, phytonutrients, fiber (5 grams in 70 calories and it is easy to digest. It is gluten – free, trans-fat free, sugar-free.

It has amazing benefits for human health:

–   helps lose weight

–   reduce food craving

–   balance blood sugar

–   eliminate toxins and helps stay regular

–   fight free radicals

–   creates more energy

–   it is anti-inflammatory

–   balance the hormones

–   helps with PMS

–   helps with depression

–   supports a healthy heart

–   has anti-aging proprieties

–   makes your brain feel good

–   reduce muscle soreness and speeds recovery

–   hydrates your body.

It is easy to eat: you can put it in the smoothie, sprinkle on the salad, add to oatmeal, make lemonade, use for baking instead of eggs and more.

My favorite way of eating is to add to the smoothie, pudding, porridge and make lemonade.

Another important fact for chia is that it is very beneficial for your furry pets especially now when you can’t really trust too many brands of dog food. Chia improves digestion, helps with allergies, arthritis, cancer, and diabetes.

My favorite chia seeds are called MILA. Why do I prefer to eat MILA than other chia seeds in the store? First of all they maintain the highest level of nutrition. They test each crop to ensure that every bag of Mila has the varieties that are highest in Omega-3s, protein, fiber, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals because not every chia seed is equal.

They use an exclusive proprietary cold fracturing process to open the seeds, making them easier to digest and much more bioavailable. The cold fracturing is important for me because I don’t have to blend it and create the heat like flaxseed which is not digestible if you don’t blend it. What goes with blending flax is heating them up. You have to eat the flax within one hour of blending otherwise, they go rancid which is not good for your body.

Chia seed is very helpful with detox because it contains a lot of fiber. If you would like to do a THRIVING HORMONES DETOX with me click here!
